Attractions and Places of Interest of
Islamorada, Florida Keys.

These are some Islamorada attractions that are not exactly of the "fishing frenzy nature" that we described earlier on our debate about Islamorada.

But fishing is what makes this town famous around the world, as we all know..!Nevertheless we have other things to check for while in this region of the Florida Keys.

See it for yourself!

Not long after you see the Welcome to Islamorada’s sign around the Mile Marker 84.5...you'll notice the imposing entrance to the Theater of the Sea...it would be hard to miss; with the American flag, a huge water fountain, big letters announcing the place.

The theater is actually a huge complex with different areas for display of wild life and shows executed by trained Dolphins, Sea Lions, Birds and other very intelligent animals.

One of the top and most visited attractions in the Florida Keys.

If you like dolphins be on the look out for dolphin encounters here!

The huge parking lot, the marina and the building are all adjacent; next to the marina and not too far you'll find two of the best restaurants (Morada Bay Beach Cafe and Pierre's) and one the most picturesque landmarks of the Florida Keys.

The Triangle of History, a historic site of Islamorada.
View of the area of the Triangle of History of the side of US 1 right across where Indian Key is located.

The Triangle of History. Mile Markers 77-78 Overseas Highway.

It's one of those interesting Florida Keys historic landmarks that you will encounter almost by accident on the road side while snooping around the Islamorada attractions.

This is where the only fresh water wells were in the Upper  Florida Keys during the times in which the Calusa Indians, early settlers, explorers and sailors inhabited this lands. Indian Key was a Spanish settler’s town around the 1690's, and Lignumvitae Key an Indian burial ground.

There are tales of Spanish ship wrecks and sailors keeped captives by the Indian natives of these islands. Interesting! From the nearby Robbie's Marina you can take a tour of this landmarks or just simply kayak your way around.
