The Florida Keys Camping and RV Experience.

Why do some choose camping to staying in luxury resorts or hotels?

The Florida Keys camping fever has been highly contagious and addictive for quite some time...Because Mother Nature has been so generous to this region camping has evolve into a pop form! And this proximity to nature and a the rush of the adventure is what we like about  setting camp under the stars and the blue sky of the Florida Keys.

These islands of Southern Florida should be named the campgrounds and RV Capital Of the World...Why?...Because there are so many RV parks and areas for camping here!

Of course I photographed some of these campgrounds and I also have been camping in some quite a number of times. Which ones are my favorite?..Hard to say. I do personally prefer the Lower Keys but others like the ones in the Upper or the Meddle Keys.

As you travel across the Florida Keys over the US-1 bridges and roads you'll notice the RV parks, and camp sites on both sides of the road.

Most of the RV Parks, resorts or camp grounds are conveniently located near shopping centers and points of interest, allowing access to all that the Keys has to offer.

Whether you are here for just a short holiday vacation or a long time staying, traveling on your RV or camping could be very practical and economical.

Best transportation at the camp site and nearby areas, is a bike.

Many of the best Florida Keys camping areas are located near the water front, giving you the option of enjoying the water sports activities and thinks to do, like boating, kiteboarding, kayaking, snorkeling or fishing.

Walking, or biking along the nature trails is a neat experience when you are at this campgrounds, especially the ones that are located at the Bahia Honda State Park  the Long Key State Park, and the John Pennekamp State Parks.

It's the best option to find out before hand if the camp site has room for the size of your RV or motor coach as well as making reservations for a spot on the campground of your choice.

I strongly recommend making reservations in advance particularly during the winter months of Nov, Dec, Jan & Feb

Pet policies are good to be check also since some campgrounds on the Keys have restrictions on the areas were pets are allowed.

There are other rules regarding recreational vehicles that are to be fallow:

RV's or similar vehicles are not allowed to be traveling on US-1(Over Seas Highway) after 11 PM and are not to be park on some public parking lots in some areas.

So the best option is to plan your trip and route well in advance and get as much information as possible.

I know of some very well maintained RV campgrounds here, were I stayed at times and that also have good reviews of recent visitors.
